Unfortunately, most crowns look like crowns. Our goal is to provide dentistry that is undetectable. We replace existing crowns and fillings with restorations that look and feel like your natural teeth.
Where damage to a person's teeth is extreme, and apparently beyond repair, we can use porcelain or porcelain "fused on gold" crowns to make the smile appear "as new". This is an extremely reliable technique for repairing the most severe of dental problems, even permanently replacing missing teeth to offer a complete smile and a functional bite. We are renowned for the quality of our work and the fantastic changes we make for people using this technology. These treatments are used for a long lasting correction of major dental problems.
How long do dental crowns take?
Fitting a crown requires at least two visits to our office. Initially, we will remove decay, shape the tooth, and fit it with a custom made temporary crown. We give great attention to detail even for the temporary crown, as this is a great test as to what the final shape and bite should be like. Dr. Fling will prepare the tooth by removing a portion of the enamel and dentin. A uniform amount of tooth reduction around and on top of the tooth is completed. This preparation process requires acute attention to detail. Since the bridge must be fabricated very precisely to ensure a correct bite and fit, impressions of the teeth are taken and sent to a lab where the bridge will be constructed

Most crowns fail because of poor fit or because proper consideration has not been given to the bite. Research shows the average crown last less than 6 years. Dr. Fling chooses to be different. Keeping the facts in mind, careful consideration is given to the bite. Then meticulous attention to detail is given to the preparation process and to the resultant impressions. Unlike the norm, Dr. Fling and his staff complete their own modelwork on which the crowns or bridges are fabricated. Usually left to the technician, this modelwork is mounted and finished under magnification to ensure it is exact by Dr. Fling ans his staff. It should be noted that these are many of the principles and procedures that Dr. Fling teaches to students and dentist with his lectures and seminars.
On the subsequent visit we will remove the temporary crown, and then fit and adjust the final crown. Finally, we will cement the crown into place.

What are the capabilities of crowns?
Crown and bridgework is a very reliable solution for major dental problems caused through accidents, diseases or wear and tear. Major problems can usually be corrected using these techniques. Material used in this reconstructive process is either gold or high-grade porcelain, or porcelain fused to either gold or tooth colored copings.
Many people have unexplained pain from back teeth, which may be due to hairline cracks in the chewing part of the tooth. As the tooth spreads apart at this crackline under chewing force, fluids leak into this crack. These fluids create a hydrostatic pressure that is sensed by the nerve in the tooth as pain. Placing a crown on this tooth relieves the pain by preventing the ttoth to spread under pressure. This allows a return of full dental function. In front teeth, older fillings can both weaken the teeth and cause "appearance" problems due to staining or chipping. Porcelain crowns and bridges are suitable in cases where porcelain veneers are not. In teeth with root canal fillings, crowns protect the tooth and can prevent breakage.
