Some many times, it is apparent when some one is wearing a denture. Poor fit, artificial appearance and poor ability to function are common. Keep in mind that prior to attending dental school, Dr. Fling was trained and worked as a laboratory technician. This gives him special insight into fabrication of many dental appliances. Because of his training, Dr. Fling has a different approach to making dentures.
Dr. Fling actually sets the teeth his self into wax, so this can be tried into place. He begins by placing the front teeth identifying the correct position and length of each tooth. After this is proven satisfactory while tried into the mouth, it is then removed and back teeth are then placed into the wax. While these steps are usually left to the lab technician, Dr. Fling has found that his expertise gives him the ability to create a denture that is personalized for each person. Teeth have now been placed in wax that very accurately depict the processed, final denture. After this has been completed, Dr. Fling then completes an anatomical wax-up, to make the pink gum area even look natural! Because each set has been approved by the patient, there is no guesswork as to the appearance and fit of the final denture. Sure this takes more time, but it ensures an aesthetic, natural and functional outcome.

If the quality of remaining bone structure and soft tissue doesnt allow a firm fit, other options are available to improve retention. Today, it is common to have implants placed which allow the denture to be secured tightly in place. This allows a denture to be stabilized in function while also preserving the remaining boney ridge. The utilization of implants involve the collaboration of Dr. Fling with an Oral Surgeon or Periodontist.
